Tiny airplane pants

August has passed and I did not make a dress during the month, but I did manage to sew up these tiny little airplane pants. Pretty easy.

perfect pleats

these pics are just boring WIP shots. pinning the bodice to the skirt, but I just thought the pleats were pretty neat, and I wanted to get them as perfect as I could. the interior of this dress will be finished just as nicely as the outside.
this orange color is pretty appropriate for the season right now too.

hobo doggie sweater #2

this is the continuation of the first hobo sweater. this one is super simple too, just requires a bit of sewing. I used the same sweatshirt from before.   this is not an exact pattern, but pretty close.   first I measured the length of the dog from neck to tail. and measured around his neck as well.  and then cut the sweatshirt material accordingly.  I used the ribbed sweatshirt waistband as what will become the collar of the dog sweater.
then I folded it in half, right sides together. marked the area for his arm holes and where I need to sew, from the bottom of his neck to the chest area of the sweater.  as you can see peanut is very excited to help!
below is the sweatshirt sewn, and with the arm holes cut.  I did a zig-zag stitch all the way around the outer side, and also stitched around the arm holes as well to prevent fraying.
and here is the final result:

hobo doggie sweater

last year this time we got a little doggie, named peanut. because it was so cold, I decided he needed a sweater.  so I took an old sweatshirt and cut a piece from the arm.
I cut off the cuff, but sure to leave a bit of the wristband edge so it won't fray.  then I cut the sweatshirt at the forearm, at an angle.
lastly cut 2 holes for  his arms.  he was so small then, he could fit in the wrist of a sweatshirt!
this was a year ago. next week I'll post a much larger hobo sweater I made for him using the rest of the blue sweatshirt.

metal for monsters!!!!

coming soon....
I was asked by blend creations to create a monster design for their campaign to raise money for unicef.    the BLEND site, 'metal for monsters' will go live soon,  plus some of my friends are involved too.  stay tuned for more info.

this was the initial sketch, and then I cleaned it up in illustrator.
the final result is very precise.
